Data Communication in an embedded spontaneous ad hoc network

Research project:

The research works proposed within this offer will be carried out on
an “intelligent embedded platform” common to two laboratories
perception and command systems in Heudiasyc laboratory, and COSTECH a
human science laboratory.

The aim of this work is to establish an embedded platform able to
communicate data through a spontaneous, wireless ad hoc network.

The first activity will be the integration of the communication
functions in order to obtain a reliable, location-aware communication
library, which will be sensitive to the embedded constraints regarding
the computing platform, with respect to energy consumption, limiting
resources, using the feedback scheduling techniques for the
communication tasks.

In the framework of this post-doc offer, we aim to improve also the
security of the exchanged data and of the embedded applications
deployment over such spontaneous, wireless ad hoc network.
Cryptographic solutions will indeed be of great help, provided that
novel “key/trust” concession algorithms would be set up to build
a local confident data exchange environment.

This postdoctoral offer includes the analysis of our needs, a
bibliographical study of the current solutions, the development or
the adaptation of an adequate solution, and its implementation for
real-scale tests on our equipped terminals.

Among the key issues to tackle, we should consider the real-time
computing constraints, the precise synchronisation without a
continuous connexion, episodic and uncertain communication with a
centralised server, etc.

Candidate profile:

The applicant should hold a PhD degree in computer science, having
good experience in programming under Linux, using TCP sockets.
Programming under android OS is a plus. Knowledge of localisation
technique is also a plus.
